Athletics Carnival
What an extraordinary day! Our 2025 Athletics Carnival was an outstanding success, bringing together students from Prep through Year 6 to compete in a single, exhilarating event. It was truly inspiring to see the entire school gathered on the oval, united in spirit, actively participating, and enthusiastically cheering one another on.
The Woree spirit shone brightly throughout the day, showcased by a lively atmosphere filled with friendly competition, joyful camaraderie, and exemplary sportsmanship across all year levels. Whether races, long jump, group games in the lower year levels, or offering spirited encouragement from the sidelines, every student demonstrated remarkable dedication and enthusiasm.
A heartfelt thank you goes to Miss Grossman for her exceptional efforts in orchestrating the event so seamlessly. Our gratitude also extends to our dedicated staff and the P&C for opening an additional outdoor tuckshop for parents, which added to the festive ambiance.
Most importantly, we deeply appreciate all the families who came out to support their children — it was wonderful to witness such a strong sense of community. Days like this truly underscore the vibrant and welcoming culture that defines Woree State School.
It was an absolute pleasure for the Executive Team to have the opportunity to engage with families during the event. These interactions provided valuable insights and strengthened the partnership between the school and our community. We greatly appreciate the time families took to connect with us, and we look forward to continuing this positive collaboration in the future.

Staff Profile – Carly Delaney

Carly Delaney
My name is Carly Delaney and I’m the proud teacher of Year 1B.
This is my first year at Woree State School, however I’ve enjoyed teaching for over 20 years. I’ve travelled around Queensland teaching in many different remote, rural and metropolitan schools. My most recent remote experience was up in the Northern Peninsular Area, where I was an Inclusion Teacher at both Bamaga Junior and Secondary, and Ama Mary Eseli Injinoo Campus.
I have a beautiful 13 year old son who is now in Year 8. As a family, we love camping, crabbing, adventuring, travelling and fishing is an obsession!
I have had such a wonderful first semester at Woree, and I look forward to a successful Semester 2!
1B Class Article
What an awesome Semester 1 for 1B!! We have had a busy term with highlights along the way.
This term for English,1B students have worked hard on writing an informative text using simple sentences with capital letters, full stops and adjectives to add description. The topic was frogs and we built up such an amazing background knowledge that the students produced outstanding writing. It really blew me away! They read about frogs and answered questions to check their comprehension.
In Maths, students had fun using tens and ones block to ‘break up’ 2 digit numbers and learnt how to write number sentences for addition and subtraction to 20.
We had a spectacular Mother’s Day pampering afternoon. Thankyou so much to the parents and carers who were able to attend.
Have a safe and enjoyable break,
Mrs Delaney

P&C News

What does your P&C do?
The Woree State School Parents & Citizens’ Association supports your children’s development by partnering with the Woree State School to provide essential services that include the Outside School Hours Care program, the Butterfly Café (tuckshop) and the School Shop. Our mission as a community-based not for profit association is to provide valuable support through reinvestment of monies and time back into the school to provide additional resources as seen necessary by the principal and essential to the development of the school community.
We ask all families to support your children’s journey by supporting our mission and encourage all parents and carers to play an active role in their child’s development through joining the P&C community.
Being a member
Interested in becoming a part of the Woree State School P&C Association?
Being an active member does not mean having to attend every meeting. You can attend as many or as little as you want. We do however ask you to attend the annual general meeting where a new committee is elected to office for the next 12-month period and critical direction is commonly discussed.
Remember NO P&C = NO TUCKSHOP / NO OSHC / NO SCHOOL SHOP
Volunteering
Being a volunteer comes in all shapes and forms. It does not necessarily mean having to help at every fundraising event. It could simply mean helping us with the administration of our Facebook page or a couple hours at our awesome Butterfly Café making sandwiches or pouring drinks. If your time is available, you may consider helping us with one of our main fundraising events? Our fundraising calendar supports a maximum of six events per year. Any support around this is always highly valued and happily received.
Why Volunteer?
- Volunteering helps you to connect to your community by strengthening your connections.
- Children whose parents are involved in their schools do better. Research has shown that children of a school volunteer make better grades and perform better on tests.
- Volunteering helps you spend more time with your kids.
- Helps you get to know teachers and other school team members.
- Makes the school a better place to learn.
- Allows us to use your strengths.
- Why NOT!
